CLIVE ROBERTSON

GAME TIME-by: Lisa Steinberg

Q. What are some of the recent projects that you've been working on?

A. The latest one that I did was this series called "Wicked Wicked Games" with Tatum O'Neil. I also did voiceover work for a video game, which was quite fun, called Darkstar.

Q. What drew you to wanting to be a part of the game?

A. It intrigued me and I had done a series called "Starhunter" where I was up in Canada and I was the lead of the show. The show only ran for a season and I was this sort of bounty hunger in space. I think that they approached me because I had done this series in Canada because this was another captain of a starship. I was told that it was going to be this new way of doing video games where I was actually me. It wasn't sort of an animated picture of me; it was actually me. I wasn't sure how they were going to do this, I don't know if you've ever watched a video game, there are so many different permutations of how you make that work. Basically, most of it is done through your point of view but when it is not; it's basically you trying to wander around the spaceship and figure out what's happened. I shot it all on a green screen and I think that it's going to be good.

Q. Do you know when the game will be available for release?

A. I wish I did, but I don't, the guy who created it has been working on this for many years. I've been working on the game recently but the first time I met the guy was probably two years ago. So, I think it's been about seven years that they've been making it.

Q. What about the process of working on the game was challenging for you?

A. The challenging thing is that you have nothing to work opposite. You are working with green things, like in this case, it was just me and nobody else. I was doing scenes with people who weren't even there. Imagining that they were there was a little tricky and when I signed on for this I didn't know that was how it is going to be; but that's how it turned out to be.

Q. Did your experience working on the game give you the desire to do more of that type of work?

A. What really attracted me to this was that it challenged me to do something that hadn't been done before. I've done voiceovers for video games in the past but this was actually going to be using my image. I just thought that it was something quite interesting to do. I am completely open to doing things that are interesting; I always have been.

Q. Since you've done acting, theater and video game voiceover work, is there anything else in the industry that you'd like to try your hand at?

A. The thing that I haven't done as an actor is that I haven't done movies. I'd actually like to start doing some films and I am interested in the concept of directing. Whether or not I'll get around to doing it; I don't know. It certainly interests me and the more you're in the business, the more you learn, and I feel like I'd make a good director.

Q. You're very involved in the charity "Wild Aide," why is this such an important charity for you?

A. I just worry because we've only got one world and we're destroying it at such a fast rate. Part of the reason that "Wild Aide" is important is that, when you look at the animals we have, we're not only hunting them down but we're also destroying the habitats that they live in. By making it a point to try and save, for example the tiger, you're actually saving the habitat that they live in. I think that's almost as important because otherwise we're going to be one giant metropolis and that worries me a bit.
